This painting was inspired by the Dobbs v. Jackson case on June 24, 2022, in which the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. This landmark decision, which had upheld federal abortion rights for nearly 50 years, was reversed, transferring the authority to regulate abortion back to the individual states. I find the regression in modern society concerning women's rights, as a result of this decision, deeply infuriating.

This painting portrays a pregnant woman undergoing an abortion, attended by a female doctor. In a distressing turn, a man intervenes, fatally harming the doctor. The focus intensifies on an infant "alien," barely recognizable as a living being, whom the man regards as his equal. Contrarily, neither the pregnant woman nor the doctor is afforded the same value by him.

Why do I focus on women's rights in this drawing? While art often reflects an artist's identity and background, as a man raised by a strong mother, I find it essential to contemplate and address these issues.
